We have a proud mandate to:

  • Protect and promote a safe and happy Jewish life for every Jewish student

  • Empower and inspire student-led activism and programming

  • Provide Jewish students – on whichever campus – access to a UJC chaplain

  • Deliver ongoing, non-judgemental welfare and pastoral care to all Jewish students

  • Offer a ‘home-away-from-home’ for all Jewish students

Our Chaplaincy couple have been really supportive to the Jewish student community on campus, which is even more incredible considering they themselves were dealing with a lot after October 7th.

Now, more than ever, Chaplains are supporting students on the frontline, as they deal with all the challenges that come along with student life – such as loneliness, anxiety, ongoing incidents of antisemitism and intimidating anti-Israel activism. The answer to hate on campus has to be more Jewish students doing more Jewish things.

Over the last academic year, UJC Chaplains have provided direct assistance to over 1,600 students confronting antisemitism, dedicated over 4,000 hours to student welfare and mental wellbeing, and have had over 16,500 attendances at events, fostering a sense of community and solidarity. Additionally, we have hosted over 9,200 students in Chaplains’ homes, held over 50 meetings with university officials to advocate for student safety and rights, and engaged in over 32,500 student interactions, each offering vital resources and support.

As part of our commitment to offering the best service provision to Jewish students, over the years we have developed strong working relationships with multiple community organisations such as the Union of Jewish Students (UJS), The Community Security Trust (CST), the Board of Deputies of British Jews (BoD), and the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC), amongst others.

We also work very closely with Jewish Student Chaplaincy Scotland (JSCS) and the Jewish Medical Association (JMA), as well as being registered with the UK Fundraising Regulator.
